NAMM 2015 – TC Electronics reveals Viscous Vibe & Helix Phaser stompboxes

Set phaser to stun!

What would NAMM be without some exciting news from TC Electronic! The danish effect pioneers are constantly developing new and awesome-sounding effects, as well as useful tools for pros and guitar enthusiasts.

Just right in time for NAMM 2015, they release the Viscous Vibe and the Helix Phaser effects.

Where technology and tone meet

Did you ever want to recreate the stunning, deep and rich vibe sound of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” record? But none of the vibe pedals you own seems to come even close to that?

TC Electronic managed to recreate the famous and legendary Shin-Ei Uni-Vibe effect, which was designed in 1968 with original intention to replicate the sound of a rotary speaker. However, the end result sounded different than anything before and eventually turned out to be a 4-stage phaser based on a light bulb with four photo cells.

The Viscous Vibe is a true recreation of that very unit, which was used on several Pink Floyd recordings, including “Breathe” and “Time”. It also brings you right into the sounds of Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix and all the other UniVibe masters. Stereo ins and outs will allow you to integrate the Viscous Vibe into your stereo setup or use it with two amplifiers.

Enter the helix!

A similar approach goes for the new Helix Phaser, which offers the most popular phaser textures between vibrant 60’s swirl and modern, swooshy sounds a la Van Halen or Smashing Pumpkins. The four controls work very effective and make the Helix Phaser a really versatile tool. It also features stereo ins and outs with True Bypass and Analog Dry-Through functionality.

Create your own!

Both new pedals also feature TC Electronic’s exclusive TonePrint technology, allowing you to use the free TonePrint Editor to create your own phaser or vibe sounds. On top of that, it gives you access to a collection of world-class effect units to choose from. Once you found the sound you’re looking for, simply “beam” it through the pickups of your guitar into the unit, using the TonePrint App for iOS or Android.

TC Electronic labels both new pedals with the price of 129€ each. The first Helix Phaser and Viscous Vibe units will hit your dealer in May 2015.
